Devices running KitKat will soon lose support for Google Play Services

From the Android Developer blog today:

As of July 2023, the active device count on KK is below 1% as more and more users update to the latest Android versions. Therefore, we are no longer supporting KK in future releases of Google Play services.

KitKat was first announced on September 3, 2013 and reached Release to Manufacturing stage on October 31. The first device to run KitKat was the Nexus 5.

The last version of the Play Services APK that will support KitKat is 23.30.99.

For developers, the Play Services APK supports a variety of functionality including mobile ads, analytics, Google sign-in, Google Cast, Google Fit and more.
